A Credit Union is a non-profit cooperative organization of people having a common bond created for the purpose of promoting thrift through convenient systematic savings, and provide a quick, economical source of dignified and confidential credit.
It is an entirely independent organization established under the Michigan Credit Union Act and regulated by the Financial Institutions Bureau. The major objective of the Credit Union Movement is to serve the financial needs of it's individual members. The Credit Union Movement is organized on a democratic basis, with power of ultimate decisions residing in the membership. Credit Unions are based on certain fundamental principles; among them, service, democracy and brotherhood.
When members save and borrow from their credit union, they do so with the confidence that their credit union operates only for their benefit, that all earnings derived from credit union services will be returned to them in higher dividends, lower loan costs, and better benefits.
