Marshall Community Members Launch Capital Campaign for Athletic Field Renovations at Newly Named MCCU Stadium

MARSHALL, MI – April 29, 2025 – Marshall Public Schools proudly announces the launch of a community-driven initiative to renovate and modernize the district's football field and track facilities. Thanks to a generous $650,000 donation from Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU), the athletic complex will now be known as MCCU Stadium. This transformative project will convert the existing facilities into a premier athletic venue serving students, athletes, and the community for generations to come.

"This renovation project represents more than an infrastructure investment—it's a catalyst for positive change within our community," said capital campaign committee member Kristen Greenwood. "Through revitalizing the existing facilities into MCCU Stadium, we're creating a lasting legacy that will serve as a hub for athletic development, education, and community engagement for decades to come."

"As Marshall’s hometown credit union, we are honored to invest in a space that brings students, families, and the entire community together. This stadium represents more than just a place for games—it’s a symbol of school spirit, shared experiences, and lasting memories,” said Corrie Rozell, CEO, MCCU. “Our partnership with Marshall Public Schools reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting youth, education, and the future of this community. Our Board of Directors wholeheartedly supported this investment, recognizing the long-term value it brings not only to students today, but to generations to come. We’re proud to be part of this exciting new chapter."

The campaign is spearheaded by a dedicated committee of coaches, educators, and community leaders committed to enhancing athletic opportunities for Marshall Public Schools students. The comprehensive renovation plans include a new synthetic turf football field, state-of-the-art facility lighting and scoreboard, and a completely renovated track.

The committee has established strategic sponsorships to secure funding for legacy expenses and future replacements, ensuring long-term sustainability without creating financial burden on the district.

"Our approach integrates input from local stakeholders, ensuring the renovation meets the needs of everyone who will use the facility," explained Jesse Brinks, MPS Athletic Director. "This level of inclusivity and forward-thinking planning distinguishes MCCU Stadium from other projects, ensuring it becomes not just a premier sports venue but a cherished community asset."

The committee overseeing this visionary project includes Scott Farley (MHS Varsity Football Coach), Eric Dale (MHS Varsity Track Coach), Dave Greenwood (MHS Varsity Baseball Coach & MHS Freshman Football Coach), Kristen Greenwood (MHS Freshman Volleyball Coach), Mike Johnson (President Marshall Athletic Boosters & MJF Football), Matt Arend (General Manager Bronco Sports Properties, Marshall Resident), Brian Lincoln (MHS Varsity Football & Faculty Member), Jesse Brinks (MHS Athletic Director), and Jim Stealy (MHS Varsity Football & MHS Varsity Bowling).

"We believe this renovation will play a pivotal role in fostering a healthier, more connected, and more vibrant Redhawk school community," said Brinks. "The generous contribution from MCCU demonstrates the powerful impact of community partnerships, and we're confident this investment will yield significant returns in community well-being and long-term community pride."

“The naming of MCCU Stadium reflects the credit union's commitment to supporting local education and athletics, creating a landmark that will serve as a source of community pride for years to come,” said Marshall Public Schools Superintendent Rebecca Jones.
