As we wrap up 2025, one thing stands above everything else: the power of partnering with members for financial success. Our mission isn’t just something we say — it guides every decision, every conversation, and every solution we deliver.
This year, we saw how education, personalized service, and community partnerships can create meaningful, lasting impact. Together with our members, schools, businesses, and nonprofit partners, we strengthened financial wellness and expanded opportunities in every community we serve.
Here are a few standout moments from 2025:
Financial Wellness in Action
Our financial counseling program, CUExcel, continued to empower community members with tools to manage debt, build savings, and improve cash flow. From families planning for their first home to people recovering from financial stress, more members used education to take control of their money with confidence.
Financial wellness also means protecting what you’ve worked hard to earn. This year, we expanded our fraud awareness initiatives through workshops, online resources, and one-on-one support. Members learned how to spot scams, respond to suspicious activity, and stay protected as fraud tactics evolve.
Together, we turned education into empowerment — helping you grow your money and safeguard it.
Growing Youth Financial Skills
We continued strengthening financial education early in life by expanding CU in School within Marshall Public Schools and launching a new partnership with Battle Creek Public Schools. Students are learning how to budget, save, and understand credit long before adulthood — gaining skills that build lifelong confidence.
And they’re not just learning; they’re joining. We saw strong growth in youth membership, reinforcing what we already believe: young people aren’t just part of our community today — they are the future of MCCU. By helping them build smart financial habits now, we’re investing in the next generation of members, leaders, and changemakers who will carry our mission forward.
Partnerships That Build Community
In 2025, our partnerships reflected a simple belief: strong communities are built when education, access, and inclusion come together.
We showed up for students where learning and life intersect. From investing in MCCU Stadium with Marshall Public Schools to expanding CU in School at Battle Creek Central, we supported students inside the classroom and beyond it — helping them build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging. At Kellogg Community College, our support of Bruin Baskets helped busy students stay focused by meeting a basic but critical need: access to food.
We also deepened our understanding of the community we serve by partnering with organizations that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, strengthening our ability to provide welcoming, thoughtful service to every member. And through teacher mini grants and quarterly donations to the South Michigan Food Bank via our Missional Scholarship Program, we continued investing in those who are shaping our communities and serving members every day.
Together, these partnerships allowed us to make an impact far beyond our branches — reinforcing that when we support people where they are, our whole community grows stronger.
Celebrating Member Experience
2025 brought recognition we’re proud of — not for the accolades themselves, but for what they represent: member-first service and meaningful relationships.
This year we celebrated:
- Business Excellence Award from the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce for the Community Support & Leadership Award.
- Diamond Awards from America’s Credit Unions — Categories Best for Community Partnerships, Endorsements & NIL Efforts, and One-Time Event (Coldwater Branch Grand Opening).
- Best Consumer Loan Experience & Best Mortgage Loan Experience from Member XP.
- Raddon Crystal Performance Award, naming MCCU among the nation’s top-performing credit unions (and one of only three in Michigan).
Thank You for Growing with Us
As we head into 2026 — our 75th anniversary year — we’re honored to reflect on a Brilliant Past and inspired to look toward a Bright Future.
For 75 years, MCCU has believed in people over profits, community over corporate interests and quotas, and relationships over transactions. Next year, we’ll celebrate that legacy while continuing to build financial wellness, opportunity, and an impact that lasts.
Thank you for being part of the MCCU family.
Together, we’ll make the next chapter our brightest yet.
