In 1951, a small group of Eaton employees in Marshall had a simple but powerful idea: what if coworkers pooled their resources to help one another save, borrow, and build better lives? That idea became Eaton Marshall Employees Federal Credit Union — and it sparked what would grow into who we are today: Marshall Community Credit Union.

Seventy-five years later, that same spirit still defines who we are.

From those early days of handwritten ledgers and shared trust, MCCU has grown into a full-service financial institution serving eight counties in southwest Michigan – Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Eaton, Jackson, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and St. Joseph.  We’ve expanded branches, introduced new technologies, supported schools and local nonprofits, and earned recognition for strong financial performance and exceptional member service. At our core, we’ve never stopped being what we were in 1951 — a cooperative built on people helping people.

Each decade brought new challenges and opportunities. From the post-war boom and the energy crisis, to inflation, soaring interest rates, recessions, the rise of online and mobile banking, heightened concerns around privacy and cybersecurity, a global pandemic, and a rapidly changing financial landscape shaped by fraud and artificial intelligence. Through it all, our focus is grounded in member service.

What makes our story special isn’t just the milestones. It’s the people behind them.

It’s the members who trusted us with their first savings account, their first car loan, their first mortgage. It’s the employees who showed up every day with care and purpose. It’s the partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations that reflect our belief that strong financial institutions help build strong communities.

As we celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2026, our theme says it best: Brilliant Past. Bright Future.

We’re proud of where we’ve been — and even more excited about where we’re going. With modern tools, personal service, and a deep commitment to financial education and wellness, MCCU will continue to grow alongside our members and our communities.
