Summer has a way of bringing people together.

Maybe it's a Friday night baseball game, an evening concert in the park, a county fair, or an ice cream cone after dinner. Maybe it's cheering on a local team, strolling through a farmers’ market, or catching up with neighbors at a community festival.

These moments may seem small, but they're often the ones we remember most.

They're the moments that remind us that community isn't simply where we live, it's where we connect.

One of the things I enjoy most about my role at Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is having the opportunity to spend time throughout the communities we serve. Each town has its own personality, traditions, and gathering places. And they all share something in common: people who genuinely care about their neighbors and take pride in making their community a better place.

That's what makes community special.

It's also why you'll often find our team outside the walls of our branches.

Throughout the year, our employees volunteer at local events, support nonprofit organizations, cheer from the sidelines at youth sporting events, participate in community celebrations, and partner with schools and organizations working to create opportunities for others. While each event may look different, they all share a common purpose—bringing people together.

At MCCU, we believe our role extends beyond providing financial services. We believe strong financial futures are built in strong communities. That's why we're proud to support local schools, nonprofits, small businesses, and community events that create opportunities for people to learn, grow, and thrive.

This summer has been another reminder of just how much happens when people come together. Families fill the stands to cheer on the Battle Jacks. Neighbors gather for festivals, concerts, and hometown celebrations. Volunteers donate their time to causes they believe in. Students participate in programs that help prepare them for the future. Local organizations work together to meet needs that no one can solve alone.

Those moments matter.

Not because of the event itself, but because of the connections that happen there.

These experiences can often create new ideas, a glimpse into an area of need, or reinforcement that there is still work to be done.

Community isn't built through one big moment. It's built through thousands of small ones—people showing up, helping one another, and investing in the places they call home.

One of the greatest privileges of my role is seeing what happens when people who genuinely care about their community come together around a shared purpose. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to connect businesses, schools, nonprofits, and community leaders—and time and again, I've watched those relationships grow into something much bigger than any one organization could accomplish on its own. Those moments have reinforced something I believe deeply—the strongest communities aren't built by one organization. They're built by people who choose to work together.

A branch may be where we do business. Community is where life happens.

And after 75 years, we're proud to continue showing up—not just as your financial partner, but as your neighbor.
