Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is proud to partner with local school districts to operate CU in School, a student-run branch program that exposes students to the credit union difference while helping them foster a positive relationship with personal finance and gain valuable work skills.

Student Teller Role at CU in School

Each spring, 11th grade students at participating schools may apply for the Student Teller role at CU in School. Selected students will be hired by MCCU and receive paid training over the summer to prepare for the following school year. Student Tellers will operate their school branch and work on various financial education assignments for class credit. Student Tellers may also have the opportunity to work at the Battle Creek, Coldwater, or Marshall offices after school or Saturdays for paid time. Student Tellers receive hands-on experience within the financial institution industry and learn valuable work skills such as customer service, time management, and marketing while bringing awareness of credit union products and services to their peers.

“I enjoyed being able to get a sneak peak of what part of the finance world is about. Being able to see the everyday operations of a credit union was quintessential in my success at college”
Andrew S., 2020 Student Teller

“My experience at MCCU helped open my eyes to the credit union industry and my skills as a [Student] Teller helped me later gain employment as a teller at another credit union throughout college. My experience at MCCU definitely gave me a boost in my career right out of high school”
Macy C., 2016 Student Teller
